TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida A&M University’s thirteenth president, Marva Johnson, was officially installed during a ceremony on Tuesday.
An emotional day for Johnson as she took in all the people who came to support her be formally installed as president.
State, local and national leaders all took part in Tuesday’s Investiture Ceremony.
“I carry the faith of every person in this room and every Florida leader who looked at this moment and said ‘She is the one. FAMU is ready, and the best is yet to come.,” Johnson said.

Johnson was greeted by standing applause during her entrance, along with several musical selections from the choir and the Marching 100.
During her message, she highlighted recent university accomplishments, while also taking ownership of her role as president, saying she plans to lead with integrity.
“I will begin every decision going forward collectively with this guiding principle. ‘Will this decision advance student success?’ That is the standard Frederick Douglas set. That is the standard the founding 15 kept, and that is the standard of this presidency,” Johnson said.
She is only the second woman to serve as FAMU’s president.
