The Curator’s Desk had the incredible opportunity to visit the exhibition From the Hearts to the Hands by Dolce&Gabbana at ICA Miami, on view from February 6th through June 14th, 2026. What unfolds is not merely an exhibition, but a profound journey through time-an exploration of beauty, devotion, and human expression that begins with the very essence of the Handmade.

At its origin, the exhibition honors the act of creation itself: the hand shaping matter, the eye interpreting the divine. Architectural discipline meets Pictorial poetry, echoing the grandeur of Rome, where structure and image have long coexisted as enduring symbols of power, faith, and aspiration. From pigment to stone, from thread to form, each work becomes a vessel of meaning.

As the narrative unfolds, the journey transforms into a meditation on divinity. Light, proportion, and perspective transcend the material world, guiding the viewer toward something beyond the visible. Art here is presented through touched by a higher presence. This Dream of Divinity rises into a theatrical convergence, where time collapses and disciplines unite. The sacred and the sensual, the historical and the contemporary, exist in a harmonious dialogue. Figures appear not as static forms, but as living embodiments of devotion and drama.

The exhibition deepens into a rich tapestry of cultural memory. Divine Mosaics shimmer with symbolic resonance, while The Leopard-an enduring emblem of Sicilian nobility-anchors themes of power and identity. The vibrant soul of Sicilian Traditions comes alive through ceramic traditions rooted in ancient Greek and Mycenaean heritage, where color becomes language and ornament becomes narrative.

A passage into White Baroque introduces a quieter yet equally powerful dimension. Here, light sculpts form into something ethereal, while the refined Art of Glassmaking-evoking the mastery of Murano-captures fragility and brilliance in perfect balance.

The journey returns once more to Rome Eternal Beauty and in The Heart of Ancient Rome cinematic-often called the world’s greatest film set. Within this timeless stage, the anatomy of tailoring reveals itself as architecture in motion: precision, structure, and discipline transforming fabric into monument. From there, the narrative extends to The Art of Sardinia, where authenticity and heritage shape textile traditions, and The Anatomy of Tailoring– the sacred heart of creation-where hands bring vision into reality through the meticulous artistry In the Heart of Milan.

The exhibition reaches its grand crescendo in Opera, a defining muse for Dolce&Gabbana. Here lies the quintessence of dramma all’italiana. Inspired by the works of Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini, the collections embody the extremes of human emotion-love, betrayal, sacrifice, and triumph-through masterpieces such as La Traviata, Aida, Rigoletto, Don Carlo, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, and La fanciulla del West. Each garment becomes an aria-alive with movement, emotion, and narrative depth.

A highlight not to be missed is The Tropical Terrace, an immersive environment that bridges Italy and Miami in a poetic dialogue of landscapes. Conceived with botanical sensitivity by Deluca Farms and Radicepura, this living installation blends Mediterranean elegance with tropical vibrancy. It is a space where nature itself becomes part of the exhibition-carefully curated, deeply intentional, and undeniably enchanting.

Curated by Florence Müller, with scenography by Agence Galuchat and produced by IMG, From the Hearts to the Hands is a masterful synthesis of art, fashion, and storytelling.

This extraordinary exhibition features over 300 pieces from both archival and new collections, offering a rare and intimate look into the creative universe of Dolce&Gabbana. It stands as a true love letter to Italian culture-an homage shaped by the visionary minds of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana-where inspiration flows seamlessly from imagination to the handmade, and ultimately into the final, breathtaking creation.

Each piece reflects a journey: from the initial spark of an idea, rooted in heritage and storytelling, to the meticulous craftsmanship that defines the finished work. The exhibition reveals not only the artistry of couture, but the discipline, devotion, and emotion embedded in every stitch, every embellishment, and every silhouette.

At its core, the show celebrates a vision deeply infused with Italian identity-rich in history, sensuality, and theatricality-while staying faithful to the spirit of la dolce vita. It is a world where beauty is lived, where elegance is instinctive, and where fashion becomes a language of culture, passion, and timeless allure.
