  • April 22, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A home was deemed “unlivable” following a Tuesday afternoon fire, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.

Around 4:30 p.m., TFD responded to a home on Centerville Road where they found flames coming from the rear of the garage.

The fire started outside of the home and extended into the garage, TFD said. While crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to the main living areas, the home sustained damage and is not currently livable.

The homeowner was outside when crews arrived and one resident was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

The fire was deemed accidental, according to TFD.

TFD warned of the elevated risk of fire danger due to ongoing dry conditions.

Leon County is currently under a burn ban.
