PORT ST. LUCIE – A 14-year-old girl was struck by a car while she was walking in the 3900 block of Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard on April 22, according to police reports.
Officers responded to that address at about 6:53 a.m., and found a girl who sustained injuries, including facial trauma and arm deformities, after being hit by the front passenger side of an oncoming car, according to police reports.
A car traveling south at an intersection at Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard struck the girl as attempted to cross the street, according to police reports.
The girl, who was conscious and breathing, did not have life-threatening injuries according to St. Lucie County Fire-Rescue personnel. She was transported by air to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach where she was receiving further medical attention and assessment.
The driver of the vehicle and the passenger were not injured and declined medical treatment.
The vehicle sustained minor damage and was removed from the scene by the driver, according to police reports.
The road was temporarily shut down during the investigation but has since re-opened.
This remains an active investigation as of April 22.
