A Pompano Beach man is facing charges after authorities said he waved a gun at a woman who was driving with her four young children during an alleged road-rage incident.
Michael Beasley, 66, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and improper exhibition of a firearm, records showed.
According to an arrest report, the alleged incident happened back on March 21 in the area of the 2000 block of East Atlantic Boulevard.
The woman said she was driving her blue Toyota sedan with her four young children inside when the driver of a silver Ford Taurus swerved in front of her, nearly hitting her vehicle, the report said.
She said the driver started brake-checking her in traffic before he pulled alongside her and displayed a silver handgun that he waved in her direction, the report said.
Both vehicles later came to a stop and the man waved the gun again, asking her “Do you want to die?” while laughing, the report said.
The woman was later able to identify the car thanks to a distinctive personalized license plate, and the registered owner was found to be Beasley, the report said.
Beasley was arrested and booked into jail. He later appeared before a judge who set his bond at $10,000.
During his hearing, Beasley’s son asked the judge to consider his status as a military veteran, and his defense attorney said Beasley said the other person drew a weapon on him.
In addition to the bond, the judge told Beasley he can only drive to the VA and to church.
