  • April 22, 2026

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Florida Capital Bureau) – Advocates for violent crime victims in Florida were recognized at a ceremony on Wednesday.

Attorney General James Uthmeier honored several law enforcement agents and community members who advocate for victims of violent crime.

The ceremony was a part of Florida’s annual National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

The Tallahassee Victims Advocates Unit, which supported the community after last year’s shooting at Florida State University were included in the ceremony.

Uthmeier discussed the importance and impact of advocacy across the state.

“We’re blessed to have victims’ advocates that hold everyone together. That provide that hug that comfort, that prayer, that friend to help people get through tough times,” he said.

Crime Victims Week will last until Saturday, April 25.
