Construction on the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster at Universal Orlando Resort has achieved a new milestone, with the first section of track now visible from within the park.
Track Construction Commences on Hollywood Drift in Orlando
On a recent visit to Universal Studios Florida, we spotted a milestone construction update on the upcoming Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster.
Crews appear to have begun work installing the coaster tracks. Guests from within the park can get a closer look at the first stretch of track positioned behind one of the in-development ride facades.
The tracks’ support structure sports a vibrant blue paint, with the tracks themselves seen in a bright white. This stands in contrast to the all-gray, base metal material used in the construction of the Universal Studios Hollywood version of the same ride, currently in testing.
The visible section of track constructed thus far can be seen extending out from part of the ride’s facade, situated near the attraction’s future entrance, before taking a turn back toward the inner section of the ride area, oriented towards the new show buildings still under construction.
Given its location, this portion of track seems likely to lead into (or out from) the coaster’s load area.
Earlier this month, we got a wider aerial look at the coaster’s construction site, where more pieces of coaster track can be spotted being staged for their installation.
Additional fencing has also appeared next to the site. It’s unclear what this is for at the moment, although it’s most likely for more equipment staging.
