Officers faced an unexpected challenge as they safely captured and relocated an alligator.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — “Just another day on patrol…until it isn’t,” police officers in Florida said on social media when they released a video showing officers working to capture an alligator.
Video released on Tuesday by the West Palm Beach Police Department shows police officers when they came face-to-face with an alligator.
In the video, the officers handle the alligator, working to safely close its jaws. After a brief struggle, they were able to tape its mouth shut and relocate it.
“From neighborhood calls to going toe-to-toe with an alligator, our officers never quite know what they’ll show up to next,” West Palm Beach police said in a social media statement. “Well-rounded policing means being ready for anything, even when it has scales and a serious attitude.”
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) says that if you are concerned about an alligator, you should call the FWC’s toll-free Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-392-4286.
FWC says that when someone calls the hotline, they will dispatch a contracted alligator trapper to resolve the situation.
