TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Number 13 Florida State’s brightest star shined through for the Seminoles on Wednesday night. Isa Torres hit a pair of solo home runs, lifting FSU past arch rival and eighth ranked Florida in a hard fought, 3-1 victory.
The visiting Gators hit a leadoff homer courtesy of Taylor Shumacker, but Torres answered in kind with her first homer in the bottom of the frame.
The two would stay deadlocked at 1-1 until Torres’ second homer to lead off the third would give FSU its first lead at 2-1.
Shelby McKenzie would plate an RBI in the bottom of the fourth to eventually put the game at its final, 3-1 Tally.
With the win, FSU has won eight of the last nine meetings with UF and has significantly bolstered its resume towards a top eight national seed. The Seminoles play a three game series at Georgia Tech this weekend and will matchup again with Florida next Tuesday for a midweek tilt in Gainesville.
