• I’m ticked off that the Orange County Roads and Drainage Department does not respond to complaints and continues to make things more hazardous for Pine Hills residents. I have made numerous reports for over a year about curbing that is missing on Balboa Drive thanks to them putting in a temporary speed bump over a year ago and never replacing the curbing. When we have rain, sand flows freely onto the road, creating hazardous conditions for bikers and runners. In addition, they only place temporary patches on the potholes, so Roger Babson Road looks like a patchwork quilt that needs frequent attention.

• It breaks my heart to see the pitiful, starving dog commercials over and over and over again on TV.  Every time they come on, I quickly change the station and rarely go back. I love all animals and support them, but I just can’t keep seeing these ads.

• What’s up with the local attorney commercial where his opening line is “Hey, I’m not going to lie …” I would hope not!

• To all those ticked off at the United Football League television format, I get your frustration. Just understand that this is a new experimental league and they’re trying new things. It’ll all work out.

The flip side

• We are grateful to the 20-plus volunteers who keep the Deltona Library used bookstore open. Couldn’t do it without the donors who give books and make it possible. Friends groups pick up the slack for items not usually in the regular county budget.
