• Attorneys for former Clay County Public Works Director Arthur Levy and suspended County Commissioner Christy Fitzgerald enter pleas of not guilty on charges of theft and official misconduct after being indicted by a grand jury.

• Keystone Heights High and teacher Susan Sailor, the Clay County Teacher of the Year, is selected as the Florida Teacher of the Year.

• Joshua Parrish, 14, is treated at University Medical Center in Jacksonville after being accidentally shot in the chest with a .32-calibert revolver.

• Navy Cmdr. William Gortney, a graduate of Orange Park High, takes command of Strike Fighter Squadron 106 at NAS Cecil Field.

• Green Cove Springs Fire Chief Red Wager says arson was believed to be the cause of a fire of more than 65 acres at Fellowship Park.

• Accountant Dawn Berlin files papers to run for Orange Park Town Council’s Seat 2, which became vacant with council member Frank Brownwell’s resignation in the wake of a report he ordered town employees against the town charter.

• Sandra Dunnavant defeats Thad Crossley in a runoff to become the second woman elected to the Green Cove Springs City Council.
