According to reports from ESPN and Yahoo.com, former Buford quarterback Ashton Daniels has been named Florida State’s starting quarterback heading into the 2026 season.
Daniels, who transferred from Auburn in January, won the job after competing with Kevin Sperry over the Seminoles 15 spring practices.
FSU head coach Mike Norvell told ESPN that he’s been pleased with Daniels’ performance during spring practice.
“I’ve really been pleased with what he’s shown, being able to live in the pocket and delivering the ball,” Norvell said. “I think he’s shown growth through the spring on the vertical shots, and he hit a couple [in] the scrimmage the other day that were right where they needed to be. I mean, huge plays that supported big drives.”
Daniels played in four games for Auburn last season, throwing for 797 yards, three TDs, and two INTs while rushing for 280 yards and two TDs.
Daniels started for two seasons at Stanford before transferring to Auburn last season. He has played in 37 games, 23 starts, and has thrown for 4.783 yards and 24 touchdowns. He also has rushed for 1,397 yards and 11 scores.
