Excitement is building across the Tampa Bay area as global K-pop sensation BTS prepares for a three-night run of sold-out shows at Raymond James Stadium.

Fans from around the world are arriving — and many are lining up days in advance.

Hundreds of fans have already camped out along sidewalks near the stadium, hoping to score exclusive merchandise either not available or often sold-out online.

Some items — including jerseys featuring Tampa tour dates — are only available on site and sell out quickly online, fans said.

“My mom really wanted the jersey. They only sell it here,” fan Jayce Lee said. “I tried picking it up online, but it’s sold out instantly.”

Others echoed the urgency.

“The merch sells out really quick, so they try to be one of the first in line,” Misty Roberts said.

But for many, the long wait is about more than just merchandise.

“People get together. They’re nice to one another, even if they don’t know each other,” fan Kristin Cox said. “People give away freebies. It’s just like one big happy family.”

That sense of connection, often described by fans as “ARMY camaraderie,” is a major draw.

“There’s no separation with Army. We’re all just best friends once we meet up,” Roberts said. “We literally don’t know anybody when we get here most of the time, we just make friends.”

Fans say the experience has been years in the making.

“I have been Army since 2018. This will be my first concert live,” Traci Askew said.

At Tampa International Airport, officials say they’ve welcomed fans from across the globe, including travelers from Chile, Ecuador, Peru and Puerto Rico.

The concerts mark a rare full-group appearance in the Tampa area. Members of BTS had been completing mandatory military service in South Korea, and this is the first time the band will perform together locally.

BTS — short for “Bulletproof Boy Scouts” in Korean and “Beyond the Scene” in English — is set to take the stage for three shows beginning Saturday.
