TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Florida Capital Bureau) – Florida parents can start planning for their children’s college education even earlier.
Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that more than 13,000 families have signed up for a new state education partnership to save up for their children’s education fund.
The partnership is between Florida’s Voluntary Pre Kindergarten (VPK) program and the Florida Prepaid College Savings Plan.

Families will receive an initial $100 upon enrollment. They then have the chance to enter into a raffle for $1,000 every month.
The governor said that it is important to invest in Florida’s higher education system at a young age.
“This is yet again another great option for families. We are proud of what we have accomplished with the prepaid programs, but yet always looking out for the best interest with the families more so than the government’s interest. And when you have excess funds you got to get that back into the families pockets,“ DeSantis said.
Since VPK’s launch, the program has served more than 3.1 million families.
