Marva B. Johnson, J.D., officially became the 13th president of Florida A&M University on Tuesday, April 21, at her investiture ceremony on the campus’ Lee Hall.
“It is both an honor and a profound responsibility to serve as president of Florida A&M University,” Johnson said before the ceremony. “This investiture is not simply a celebration of leadership, but a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and the success of every student we serve. Together, we move FAMU forward.”

The theme of the investiture was “FAMU Forward, Advancing Excellence.’’
The ceremony at the Tallahassee HBCU followed several days of pre-events, including a prayer breakfast and an evening dinner held at FAMU on Monday night.
Johnson was confirmed by the Florida Board of Governors on June 18, 2025 and assumed the helm on Aug. 1, 2025.

FAMU formally installs Johnson as 13th president
Marva B. Johnson, J.D., officially became the 13th president of Florida A&M University on Tuesday, April 21, at her investiture ceremony on the campus’ Lee Hall.
