PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (WWSB) – A woman previously charged in connection with a string of unoccupied residential burglaries in the Englewood area is facing additional charges in Charlotte County and separate charges in Sarasota County.
Shyla M. Robinett, 44, was arrested April 22 in Charlotte County on one count of dealing in stolen property and one count of accessory after the fact, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The affidavit said the charges are tied to a burglary investigation at 9201 Holt Terrace in Port Charlotte.
A separate Sarasota County probable cause affidavit, filed March 20, lists Robinett on three counts under Florida Statute 843.22(2), described in the document as traveling from her home county into another county with intent to commit burglary.
Robinett had been arrested Feb. 19 on two counts of dealing in stolen property and again Feb. 25 on another count of the same charge. At the time, the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said additional charges could be forthcoming.
The new Charlotte County affidavit says Robinett had already been arrested on five counts of trafficking and/or endeavoring to traffic in stolen property at that time.

Investigators said the case involves multiple burglaries at unoccupied homes in the Englewood area spanning both Charlotte and Sarasota counties. The Sarasota County affidavit said the burglaries showed a consistent pattern across both jurisdictions.
According to the latest Charlotte County affidavit, investigators connected Robinett to a distinctive deer antler knife reported stolen from a Port Charlotte home. The affidavit said the victim later provided photos of the item, and investigators found what they believed was the same knife listed on Auction Exchange USA.
The affidavit also said Bruce Ogden, who manages auctions on that website, told investigators Robinett sold him the knife on Dec. 8, 2025.
Investigators also cited cellphone and cell-site data that they said showed communication between Robinett and co-suspect Mark A. Brown around the time of the burglary.
The Sarasota County affidavit outlines additional evidence investigators said links Robinett to other burglary cases. That includes jewelry allegedly sold to SOS Thrift and Collectibles, a safe found on a vacant lot next to the defendants’ residence, and photos of a stolen hat found on Robinett’s cellphone.
Brown was previously identified by investigators as another suspect in the case.
