The Orlando Pride will continue training in Sanford’s Sylvan Lake Park for the foreseeable future. Seminole County leaders voted unanimously during Tuesday’s board of county commissioners’ meeting to extend the Pride’s lease at the facility located off Lake Markham Road until 2028. “We’re excited to continue the Orlando Pride’s partnership with Seminole County and appreciate the ongoing support of the county commissioners and its leadership,” a club spokesperson told WESH 2 on Tuesday. There is an option in the agreement to extend the stay until 2029, should Orlando City Soccer Club, the owners of the Pride, provide a written notice on or before July 1, 2028, exercising the renewal. Part of the lease agreement includes access to the soccer fields at the Seminole Soccer Complex, which provides 11 soccer fields and is home to the team’s youth system. Sylvan Lake Park has six fields, including the training grounds for the Pride. The Pride’s lease at Sylvan Lake Park was expected to expire at the end of 2026, WESH 2 understands. Sylvan Lake Park officially became the Pride’s main training facility in 2020 after Orlando City moved its MLS team, reserve team, and academy to Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee. The news of the Pride and Seminole County renewing its lease comes after the county recently purchased the 50-acre WB Equestrian Center, which is located between the Seminole Soccer Complex and Sylvan Lake Park, for $9.6 million last April. The reason for the purchase was to add additional soccer fields in the vicinity. Sylvan Lake Park and the Seminole Soccer Complex host a slew of youth tournaments year-round, including the ECNL tournament, which draws thousands of visitors to Seminole County.
