A teacher at Davis Elementary School was arrested on a drunken driving charge after a traffic stop in Tampa, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Jacob Cohen, 35, was pulled over around 1:33 a.m. April 19 and showed signs of impairment during field sobriety exercises, the sheriff’s office said. He refused a breath test and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and refusing to submit to testing, according to the agency.

“Driving under the influence is a dangerous and reckless decision that puts lives at risk,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “As someone entrusted with shaping young minds in our community, this behavior is especially concerning.”

The investigation is ongoing.
