Rider maimed by duck on rollercoaster at SeaWorld Orlando, lawsuit says

  • October 29, 2025

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A guest at SeaWorld Orlando is now suing the theme park after she was struck by a duck on a roller coaster earlier this year, according to a lawsuit filed on Monday morning.

The lawsuit says that the rider — identified as Hillary Martin of Orange County — was visiting the park back in March, which is when she decided to ride the Mako roller coaster.

But while riding, a duck flew into the roller coaster’s path, striking Martin’s face and causing her to lose consciousness, the lawsuit adds.

Now, Martin is accusing the theme park of “creating a zone of danger,” largely due to its high speed and placement near a body of water, which allegedly increased the risk of bird strikes.

As a result of the incident, Martin suffered permanent injury to her body, as well as hospital expenses and mental suffering, the lawsuit claims.

“Losses are permanent and continuing, and (Martin) will suffer in the future,” the document reads.

Per the lawsuit, Martin is seeking over $50,000 in damages.

Despite these details, though, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services does not list the incident online.

The full lawsuit can be read below.
