• I’m ticked off that Citrus Grove Road between U.S. Highway 27 and North Hancock Road in Groveland is now full of dump trucks because they are clearing all the land for a new housing development. The best part is that the scrub-jay crossing sign is still up as they knock down all the trees and clear all the bushes out!
• Oh my gosh, ticked off is not the appropriate word. Appalled is better after I read Monday’s article about attaching radio collars to possums, which are then released back into Crocodile Lake National Wildlife refuge in Key Largo. If a possum is eaten by a python, it is tracked and the python is euthanized. I don’t care if a possum only has a life span of two years, I think it’s cruel. Let the python hunters go in there and do their thing. The definition of refuge is shelter, protection or safety from danger. Shameful! I bet other readers agree. What next? Can’t wait to see another disgusting article about a so-called “humane” solution. No!
• I continue to be alert when Channel 9 newscasters tell me “Here is tonight’s Local Steals and Deals.” I instantly mute and feel so much better.
The flip side
• Enjoyed a fantastic trip to St. Pete to see the refurbished Trop and the Rays. Great day and friendly folks from parking lot to concession. Even sitting between two Reds fans (Rays won — go Rays!), it was an enjoyable day. What a fantastic comeback from hurricane devastation. Thanks, Rays! Have a great year. We’ll visit again!
