Come and enjoy the annual Spring Plant Extravaganza to be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at 507 N. Calhoun Street, the home of Tallahassee Garden Club. The theme of this year’s event is “Birds, Bees, and Butterflies.”
Eleven Garden Club circles will be selling assorted plants, herbs, herbal products, jellies, food, native wildflowers, perennials, house plants, bee-themed gifts, and assorted garden-related items, as well as items incorporating the event’s theme. Handmade hypertufa planters will be offered by the Coreopsis circle.
Plant sale visitors can tour the historic Rutgers House, home to the Tallahassee Garden Club.
There will be music outdoors on the grounds, and, in addition to plants, there will be yard art, raffle items, and garden whimsies for sale.
Food provided by the Buttercup Circle will be available for purchase. Their menu will include egg salad and chicken salad sandwiches, chips, pound cake, magic cookie bars, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, and beverages.

Visitors are invited inside the Garden Center, the historic Rutgers House, where rooms will be decorated to reflect the “Birds, Bees, and Butterflies” theme. Guests will enjoy educational displays, beautiful photography, themed tablescapes, and charming birdhouse exhibits.
A flower arrangement demonstration will take place, with arrangements available for purchase. An opportunity basket will also be featured, with tickets available for those hoping to take home a special surprise.

Bring the children along as there will be a Kids’ Korner with hands-on activities designed to entertain. Master Gardener Volunteers will be present at the UF/IFAS Extension Leon County Plant Clinic table to answer your gardening questions, and representatives from the Tallahassee Bonsai Society will exhibit examples of their art and explain the bonsai process.
