People will gather in Jacksonville this weekend to celebrate Native American culture at the fifth annual Onslow Veterans Pow Wow. The event will take place Saturday and Sunday, November 1 and 2, at the American Legion on Broadhurst Road.

This year introduces an education day for students and teachers on Friday.

Organizers noted that about 10,000 spectators attended last year. “We have all the tribes represented in the state of North Carolina, and we’ve got tribes coming from as far as Arizona to be a part of it,” said Raquel Painter.

Rochelle Selby added, “We’re gonna have Native American dancing. We’re gonna have food trucks. We’re gonna have Native American vendors there.”
