Another former UConn women’s basketball player has found a new home through the transfer portal this offseason, as redshirt junior Ice Brady announced her commitment to Florida State Sunday.
Brady arrived in Storrs as the No. 5 overall recruit in the 2022 high school class, according to ESPN, but played in just 73 games across the next four seasons as she faced frequent injury setbacks. The 6-foot-3 forward announced her plans to undergo season-ending knee surgery Feb. 18, and she entered the transfer portal five days after UConn’s Final Four loss to South Carolina earlier this month.
She announced her commitment to FSU on Instagram Sunday afternoon, posting a series of photos from her recruiting visit to Tallahassee with the caption “New beginnings.” The post received an immediate flood of support from her former Huskies teammates, including comments from Sarah Strong, KK Arnold, Allie Ziebell, and Blanca Quiñonoez.
Hailing from southern California, Brady joined Patterson to form UConn’s highly-touted but ultimately ill-fated 2022 recruiting class. Brady’s injury setbacks began immediately upon her arrival in Storrs, redshirting her freshman year after suffering a dislocated patella during preseason workouts.
She returned to play in all 39 games as a redshirt freshman, and she took key strides forward off the bench in her third season with the program, upping her field goal percentage to over 50% while proving herself to be a versatile and impactful defender. Brady was sidelined once again two games into the 2025-26 season with what Geno Auriemma initially described as minor knee inflammation, but the junior wing never returned to the floor before announcing her plans for season-ending surgery in February.
Brady figures to have more opportunities suiting up for a Florida State squad that regressed mightily this past season after losing stars Ta’Niya Latson and Makayla Timpson, posting just a 10-21 record while allowing nearly 100 points per game. The Seminoles are coached by Brooke Wyckoff, a Florida State alum who spent three years playing with the Connecticut Sun and had led her alma mater to the NCAA Tournament in each of her previous four seasons with the program.
