FORT MYERS, Fla. (WINK) — Wild Turkey Strand Preserve will temporarily close for a habitat enhancement project from May 4 through May 8.
The county said that all public amenities at the preserve, located at 11901 Rod and Gun Club Road, will be unavailable during the closure. This includes the hiking trail, as heavy equipment will be used to mechanically trim vegetation and enhance the road and parking lot.
The work is part of ongoing efforts to improve and maintain the preserve’s natural habitat. The project schedule is weather permitting and subject to change.
Visitors are encouraged to seek alternative locations during the closure. A list of nearby preserves is available here.
Lee County Parks & Recreation asks visitors to follow posted signage and avoid the area during the closure for their safety.
