A South Florida woman was arrested after she was accused of snorting cocaine in an Uber before allegedly attacking the driver, authorities said.
Sancia Beckford, 27, was arrested April 8 on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and criminal mischief, records showed.
The alleged incident happened back on Feb. 25, when Broward Sheriff’s Office Tamarac deputies responded to the Publix at 8245 N. Pine Island Road.
According to an arrest report, the driver told deputies he was working as an Uber driver and arrived at the Publix to pick up a passenger, later identified as Beckford.
He said Beckford got inside and started complaining about the air conditioning being too hot then started snorting a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, the report said.
The driver said Beckford started opening windows, which the driver had asked her to not do, and he said he told her to leave the vehicle because he didn’t want her to do drugs inside, but she refused, the report said.
Beckford allegedly threatened the driver with a pen, saying “I’m gonna stick it in your head (expletive),” then started punching him with her other hand, the report said.
At one point, she spit in the driver’s face and spit in the vehicle, and ended up causing around $4,500 in damages to the vehicle, a Cadillac XT6, the report said.
The driver got out and called 911 and Beckford also got out and punched the Cadillac’s bumper, causing a dent, the report said.
On April 8, authorities found Beckford at her apartment in Lauderdale Lakes.
She admitted there was an altercation with the driver and initially denied anything physical happened, but admitted to spitting on the driver but denied holding a pen to his neck or damaging his vehicle, the report said.
Beckford was booked into jail and later released on bond.
