Construction on Jacksonville Fire Department’s new Station No. 2 is set to begin, with all contracts executed and contractors on site, according to fire officials.

The new facility will replace the current station and serve north Jacksonville and the Jacksonville State University (JSU) campus. The department expressed gratitude to the mayor, council members, and Jax State for their collaborative efforts.

The modern, spacious facility is expected to enhance the department’s service capabilities, ensuring a safer environment for residents. The strategic location within the campus footprint aims to reduce response times and alleviate traffic congestion, allowing the city to house its largest engine for better service to campus facilities and taller structures like Houston Cole Library.
