TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Agencies across the state honored fallen officers at this year’s Florida State Lodge Order of Police Law Enforcement Memorial Event.
The ceremony happened Monday morning at the Donald Tucker Center in Tallahassee.
During the event, families received shadow boxes and plaques honoring their loved ones and their service.
This year, Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Craig Gaines was honored after he died in September, after experiencing medical complications due to an injury sustained while on duty traveling with Florida A&M University’s football team.
The 44th annual service is hosted by the Florida State Fraternal Order of Police over two days.
