JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County — A Jacksonville woman is facing multiple animal cruelty charges following an investigation earlier this year.

According to arrest warrants, 29-year-old Jessica Lanier was arrested Monday, April 27, in connection with an incident first reported on February 19.

Lanier is charged with one count of felony animal cruelty and two counts of misdemeanor animal cruelty.

Warrants allege Lanier failed to provide adequate sustenance to one dog, resulting in its death. She is also accused of intentionally depriving two other dogs — described as approximately one-year-old hound mixes — of necessary food.

Lanier is being held in the Onslow County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond.

Her first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28.
