A manatee was released back into the wild at Horton Park in Cape Coral on Friday.According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the male manatee was rescued in November 2023. At the time of his rescue, he weighed only 540 pounds. SeaWorld helped rehabilitate the manatee and located a fishing hook in his gastrointestinal tract, FWC said. Disney assisted with the aftercare and helped the manatee gain weight. FWC said that at the time of his release, the manatee weighed 1,040 pounds. A manatee was released back into the wild at Horton Park in Cape Coral on Friday.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the male manatee was rescued in November 2023. At the time of his rescue, he weighed only 540 pounds.
