He said, with the internet, “stranger danger” extends far beyond what it used to. However, he said online conversations can easily escalate to physically meeting. “This is somebody who was living in the virtual world, speaking to this child in Alabama, but actually took the action to take himself and his entire family up there to act upon this deviance. That’s a very scary thing when you stop and think about it, that they are that ambitious, that their sickness and their urges bring them to that extent. We need to be vigilant in every aspect, not only electronically but also in person at all times,” he said. They did an amazing job of bringing this investigation to a close, and I’m just grateful that those two kids have been saved,” Billig said.
