Effort abandoned to turn historic Florida school campus into a park

STUART — Mayor Christopher Collins has abandoned his effort to have the city buy the old Stuart High School campus and buildings to protect it from development.

Owned by the Martin County School District, the campus might be put up for sale. Collins had feared apartments might be built there and had suggested turning it into a park.
