Opa Locka, FL – A violent crash in Opa Locka led to a fatality and multiple serious injuries, prompting a large emergency response in a residential neighborhood.
According to the Miami Dade Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred in the morning hours near Northwest 135th Street when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed struck several parked cars.
Authorities say the impact caused extensive damage and resulted in the vehicle catching fire shortly after the collision.
Investigators reported that the driver was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the driver has not been released as officials work to notify next of kin.
Two passengers inside the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were transported by air rescue to a nearby hospital.
Officials said both individuals were listed in critical condition following the incident.
Emergency crews, including fire rescue units, responded to the scene to extinguish the fire and assist those involved.
Debris from the crash was scattered across the roadway and surrounding area, and officials confirmed that at least one nearby structure was impacted during the incident.
