ST. PETE BEACH — The St. Pete Beach Public Library set its schedule of upcoming events.

• Monday, May 4, 11 a.m.-noon. Tech Help-Walk-In: Library staff offer help with technology basics for phones, computers, and library-related applications. Monday Tech help is on a walk-in only basis.

• Tuesdays, 10 a.m. Storytime: This lively story time is perfect for children ages 5 and under and their caregivers. Explore stories, songs and movement that build early literacy skills and support motor development.

• Tuesday, May 5, 3:30-5 p.m. Topics in American History: Our Constitution at Work: The Constitution created a bureaucracy and a system of checks and balances.

• Wednesday, May 6, 1-4 p.m. Mahjong: Bring some friends and play Mahjong. The library will provide both the American and Chinese versions of the game. This is not an instructional or guided gaming program. Seating is limited.

• Thursday, May 7, 10 a.m. Boogie & Bubbles: Twenty minutes of music and movement. Great for ages 2-5.

• Thursday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 8, 4-6 p.m. Western Romance Reading Rodeo: Saddle up for a rootin’-tootin’ good time at the library with this Western-themed celebration of stories and romanc. Explore the charm of subgenres like Cowboy Christmas or discover your next favorite read through the “Blind Date with a Cowboy” display. Try your hand at the Western Scavenger Hunt, uncovering hidden treasures throughout the library, and share your appreciation at the “Love Notes to the Library” station. Don’t forget to cast your vote on the “Marry Me, Cowboy” board and help us round up the most beloved Western romance tropes. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the range, there’s something here for every buckaroo.

• Saturday, May 9, 2-4 p.m. Tech help by appointment: The library offers help with technology basics for phones, computers, and library-related applications. (No repairs). Gulf Beaches Library event schedule

MADEIRA BEACH — The Gulf Beaches Public Library has released its latest schedule of upcoming events:

• Writers Group: Mondays, 10 a.m.-noon

• Library App Help: Wednesdays, 2-3 p.m. For help with Libby, Kanopy, and Hoopla.

• International Movie: Wednesday, May 13, at 2 p.m. “Wild Diamond.” French.

• Mahjong: Thursdays, 11 a.m. Old and new members welcome.

• Investment Club: Thursdays, 2:30-4 p.m.

• Meditation: Fridays, 11 a.m.-noon. Relax and rejuvenate at the end of the week.

• Scrabble: Fridays, 1-4 p.m.

• Storytime: Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. Ages 2 and under; Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Ages 2-4.

• Book Club: Tuesday, May 19, at 10:30 a.m. “A Fever in the Heartland” by Timothy Egan.

• Adult Art Class: Tuesday, May 19, from 5-7:30 p.m. Watercolor class with artist Deb Barnard. All materials will be provided. Registration required.

• Author Talk: Saturday, May 23, at 11 a.m. Gulf Beaches Library staff member Christine Sloman will present her new memoir, “idk, my dad has dementia,” do a Q&A, and sign copies of her book.

The library is currently taking gently used donations of books, no textbooks.

Gulf Masons award $3,500 scholarship

MADEIRA BEACH — Jovana Mutlak of Clearwater has been selected to receive the Ernest J. Freeman Jr. Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $3,500 from Gulf Beach Masonic Lodge.

Mutlak, a senior at Largo High School, has distinguished herself through exceptional academic achievement, maintaining an impressive 3.98 unweighted GPA and a 4.57 weighted GPA, the lodge said in a press release. She has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Honor, a recipient of the College Board First Generation Recognition Award, and a member of the National Honor Society.

She serves as co-president of her school’s STEM Club, vice president of the Largo Cultural Association, and is an active participant in Model United Nations, where she has earned honors including Best Delegate and Best Position Paper.

Mutlak volunteers with Morton Plant Hospital, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the Largo Area Historical Society. She has also contributed as a co-organizer of the Pulsera Project and as an International Baccalaureate Ambassador.

The daughter of Serbian immigrants and a first-generation college student, Jovana has worked since the age of fourteen while balancing a rigorous academic schedule. She has been accepted to Brown University, where she plans to study biochemistry on a pre-medical track, with aspirations of pursuing a career in research and healthcare.

Town recycling station returns to original location

INDIAN SHORES — The town’s recycling station, which was temporarily relocated to Second Street, has now returned to its original site at Town Hall, 19305 Gulf Blvd., town officials report.

The station is situated on the east side of the William J. Krajewski Public Safety Building.
