FORT PIERCE – A Fort Pierce couple is in the St. Lucie County Jail on charges of crimes against children after police found the woman clad only in a diaper and a man wearing no clothes but slathered in baby oil in a home with two children in the 1600 block of Avenue E, Fort Pierce on April 24, according to police reports.
William Henry Carlisle, 72, and Rebecca Ann Walker, 28, were arrested on charges of child neglect without great bodily harm for allegations related to unsafe living conditions, failure to maintain proper hygiene for the children, and failure to provide adequate care, according to police reports.
Additional charges included conspiracy related to knowingly facilitating travel intended to meet a minor, including providing access to a vehicle and assisting in preparations for the interstate trip, according to police reports.
Officers went to the home at about 7 a.m., April 24 with a search warrant as a result of an ongoing investigation with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, according to police reports.
An officer noted in the arrest affidavits that two children in the house looked dirty and had not been bathed.
The house was in “an obvious state of disarray with food scraps, trash, dirty dishes and other items strewn around on the counters, furniture and floor,” the officer wrote in his report.
Several bottles of baby oil were found in the bedroom and the beds were soaked with it, according to police reports. Carlisle told officers he used the oil for shaving, according to police reports.
Walker was in the St. Lucie County Jail as of April 30 on a bond of $80,000 for two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm and one count each of conspiracy related to knowingly facilitating travel intended to meet a minor and lewd and lascivious and behavior/molestation on a victim less than 12 years old by an offender 18 or older.
Carlisle is in the St. Lucie County Jail as of April 30 on a $60,000 bond on two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm and one count and on one count of conspiracy related to knowingly facilitating travel intended to meet a minor.
