The Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic meet Friday in Game 6 of their first-round Eastern Conference NBA playoff series. Tip at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida, is set for 7 p.m. ET (Prime Video). Let’s analyze NBA odds around the Pistons vs. Magic odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Playoff series: Magic lead 3-2

The top-seeded Pistons, who closed the regular season with 60 wins and the third-best record in the NBA, staved off elimination in Game 5 Wednesday with a 116-109 win, but failed to cover as a 10.5-point home favorite as the Over (210.5) cashed. G Cade Cunningham scored a franchise playoff-record 45 points.

No. 8 seed Orlando won both of its home games to take a 3-1 series lead, but fell to 0-10 in franchise history on the road in a playoff Game 5. F Paolo Banchero matched Cunningham with 45 points, also a playoff career high, and while he hit 6 3-pointers, he missed 7 of 12 free throws.

Pistons at Magic picks and predictionsPrediction

Magic 106, Pistons 101

PASS.

While I do like the Magic (+135) to close out the series, the spread feels more comfortable here, especially given the last 3 games have all closed with single-digit margins.

BET MAGIC +3.5 (-110).

The Magic have been consistently inconsistent for most of the season, but they’ve performed well the game after coming up short. Orlando is 22-17 ATS following a loss this season and has won and covered in all 3 home postseason outings.

Detroit has lived or died by the heroics of Cunningham, as he’s the only player scoring over 20 points per game and just one of 2 players scoring more than 12 points per game for the Pistons. Detroit has scored 105 points or fewer in 4 of 5 games in the series and hasn’t shown it can produce consistently.

BET UNDER 210.5 (-110).

Both teams have scored over 100 points in 3 games, with both teams missing that mark twice. The Pistons are averaging 96.5 points per game on the road in this series and should face a Magic side with their best shot at closing out the series.

Orlando is just 2-5 O/U in the postseason and has allowed sub-100 points in 3 of its last 6 contests. Expect both coaches to force others besides Cunningham and Banchero to score, and those role players have yet to step up.
