A Miami-Dade man who allegedly pointed an AR-15-style rifle at his girlfriend during a violent encounter is facing serious charges, authorities said.
Ramon E. Diaz, 21, was arrested Tuesday on charges of kidnapping with a weapon, battery, attempted armed robbery, and strongarm robbery, Miami-Dade jail records showed.
According to an arrest report, the alleged victim and Diaz have been dating for the past three months and had dinner together Monday, but afterwards, she received a call from a male friend that upset Diaz.

Diaz later forced her to call the male friend on FaceTime then became irate and forcibly removed her iPhone from her hands, the report said.
After some time, he returned her phone, and the two got into a verbal dispute before she started collecting her belongings in an effort to leave the home.
She said Diaz prohibited her from leaving and demanded $40 from her for the food they had ordered, the report said.
When she declined to pay him she said Diaz removed his AR-15-style rifle that was mounted on a bedroom wall, pointed it at her and said he was going to kill her, the report said.
The alleged victim said she was able to move the rifle away from her face and tried to record the encounter, but said Diaz “continued making verbal threats to kill her because she was going to ruin his life,” the report said.
She said she walked toward the bedroom door to exit the room but was tackled by Diaz and a physical altercation ensued, before Diaz took her phone and smashed it on the floor, the report said.
The woman said she was able to bite Diaz’s hand and free herself before running out of the home to get help from a neighbor in calling 911, the report said.
She suffered minor scratches and a small cut on her ankle, according to the report.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded and Diaz was arrested and booked into jail.
Diaz appeared Wednesday morning before Miami-Dade Judge Mindy Glazer, who said the kidnapping charge should be armed false imprisonment. Glazer also ordered him to stay away from the alleged victim and set a follow-up hearing for Wednesday afternoon.
