TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A man has been arrested after allegedly taking photos of children in a public bathroom.
According to police, officers responded to a Tallahassee business in April in reference to a man, identified as Qyran Ackerman, taking photos of exposed children in the bathroom.
Tallahassee police officers spoke to a security guard at the business, who told police a mother had approached him and said a man in the bathroom had taken a photo.
Ackerman was arrested and charged with five counts of Digital Voyeurism, according to police.(Leon County Jail)
The security guard told police that he found Ackerman outside and tried to stop him. According to arrest papers, before being prompted, Ackerman said he didn’t take any photos of the child and ran.
Police spoke to the child’s mother, who said a man approached her son in the bathroom and told him to enter the stall next to him. She said once her son was in the stall and had pulled his pants down, the man started to take photos. She told police her son ran back to her with his pants still unbuttoned and appeared startled.
Staff at the business recognized Ackerman as someone who previously worked at Governors Square Mall and frequents the business’s arcade.
When police spoke to Ackerman, he said he had been dropped off at the business, went inside to use the bathroom and left quickly to make it to the bus stop on time, according to arrest papers.

Ackerman’s phone was taken by police, and a search revealed photos of adults and children while they were using the restroom, according to police.
Police also discovered Ackerman had been found guilty of Digital Voyeurism in Brevard County and is currently on felony probation.
Ackerman was arrested and charged with five counts of Digital Voyeurism, Attempted Digital Voyeurism, and probation violation.
