TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV/Florida Capital Bureau) – Lauren Book’s walk across the state has reached the final mile at the State Capitol.
Lauren’s Kids “Walk in My Shoes” is a statewide 1,500-mile expedition to bring awareness to child sexual abuse.
In April, the organization launched the Voices Project initiative that will allow survivors to share their stories through anonymous recordings.

Lauren Book said it means a lot to complete this pilgrimage another year.
“I think for us it’s about being a mechanism for those survivors to share their stories. And I’m really excited to share the stories of the people that we have touched along the way to echo and so their stories reverberate into the halls of the Capitol, where we can create policies that make a difference,” she said.
This is the 11th year of the walk and one of the biggest turnouts yet.
Book expressed her excitement over next year’s walk as well.
“I am already looking towards next year and what it can look like and what it can be like. And again, we are so much a part of this community and this community is so much a part of us that we are excited every year to hit the road,” she said.
