JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A pedestrian was killed in a crash on Beach Boulevard early Saturday morning after a driver reportedly lost control of their vehicle.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Sergeant Robert Hungerford said a woman in her early 30s was driving westbound in the 6900 block of Beach Boulevard around 2:36 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle, a Toyota 4Runner.

Hungerford said the 4Runner crossed into the eastbound lanes of Beach Boulevard, went over a curb, struck a light pole and rolled over before hitting the pedestrian, identified as a man in his early 20s.

Following the crash, Hungerford said the man was taken to a local hospital where he died shortly after arriving. The driver was not injured, according to Hungerford.
