Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi has been named one of the top columnists in the country by the Associated Press Sports Editors.
Bianchi placed third in the column-writing contest in the second-largest circulation division for his work in 2025, APSE announced on Friday. Bianchi’s entry was composed of columns on Lee Corso leaving “College GameDay,” former Sentinel writer Ed Hinton’s impact on NASCAR safety, a childhood friend turned high school coaching legend and a column urging USF to keep Jim Leavitt out of its Hall of Fame.
Bianchi, who has been a columnist at the Sentinel since 2000, competed against 50 other sports columnists in his division, which was won by Kyle Goon of The Baltimore Banner. Gregg Doyel of IndyStar placed second.
It was Bianchi’s third consecutive year of being named a top 10 columnist in APSE’s Division B.
