PORT ST. LUCIE – A Port St. Lucie man who allegedly tried to use a credit card which he found in a Port St. Lucie parking lot was arrested on Oct. 29 by St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Carlos Alberto Becquer Estepe, 57, was charged with two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, stemming from an incident on Oct. 18 at the Wawa Gas Station in the 200 block of Southeast Prima Vista Boulevard in Port St. Lucie, according to sheriff’s office reports.
Estepe selected two 24-packs of Corona beer and tried to pay for them with what turned out to be a stolen credit card, according to sheriff’s office reports.
Estepe then left the store and headed towards a white cargo van, according to sheriff’s office reports.
A deputy located Estepe’s van parked at his home at about 1:20 a.m., on Oct. 29, according to sheriff’s office reports.
Subsequent investigation revealed that Estepe found a wallet in the parking lot of dd’s Discounts on South U.S. 1.
Inside were three credit cards and a driver’s license. Instead of turning it in, Estepe allegedly using two of the cards at local gas stations, including Wawa and a Sunoco, according to sheriff’s office reports.
He was booked into the St. Lucie County jail, according to sheriff’s office reports.
