TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – More than 900 students graduated from Florida A&M University Saturday at the Al Lawson Center, celebrating a major milestone surrounded by family, friends and alumni.
Cheers filled the arena as graduates walked across the stage, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
Among them was Sean Coleman, who earned his master’s degree in social work after also completing his bachelor’s at FAMU.
“I’m officially done now. It’s time to move on to the next stage,” Coleman said. “I feel like this day is motivation for everybody, not just the graduates, but people who aspire to graduate, get a degree, or are thinking about going back to school.”

FAMU alum Omar Goff delivered the commencement address. Three ceremonies were held throughout the day, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, Florida State University also celebrated its graduates with three spring commencement ceremonies at the Tucker Center. Those ceremonies were held at 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Both universities marked the weekend by honoring hundreds of students reaching their academic goals.
