Upon arrival, an officer heard a loud exhaust and observed the vehicle, driven by 18-year-old Jaylyn Kosmyna, performing burnouts in an apartment complex parking lot. The officer identified Kosmyna through her rolled-down window and instructed her to stop the vehicle. Kosmyna acknowledged the command but fled the area toward U.S. Highway 27. The officer activated their blue lights and attempted to catch up to the vehicle, observing it run a red light at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and Golden Eagle Boulevard. The officer clarified they were not in pursuit but attempting to catch up to the vehicle. Kosmyna turned onto Citrus Parkway, where the officer attempted another traffic stop at the intersection of Citrus Parkway and Arran Court. She fled eastbound, driving through yards before the officer terminated the pursuit and stopped their vehicle just east of the intersection, waiting for additional units due to the community’s single entry and exit point. A crash was reported near 16628 Citrus Parkway, where officers located Kosmyna in front of her crashed vehicle, which had struck a motorcycle and a house at 16632 Citrus Parkway. The estimated damages totaled $35,000. Video footage provided by the property owner showed Kosmyna’s vehicle striking the motorcycle and her exiting the vehicle while it was still in motion before it struck the house. She was seen attempting to flee the scene on foot but was detained near the vehicle. Kosmyna admitted to consuming two BeatBox alcoholic beverages and one BuzzBall alcoholic beverage at her apartment before the incident.Officers noted the smell of alcohol on her breath and conducted sobriety exercises, which she agreed to perform.
