TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Some Leon County neighbors are pushing back against a plan to develop more than a hundred homes.
The land is off Capital Circle Northwest, north of I-10 near Northwoods Church.
The church currently owns the property but plans to sell some of it if urban planners approve the developer’s proposal.
That potential sale has the group Neighbors for Capital Circle Northwest concerned, as they say they moved here to escape the subdivisions elsewhere in Tallahassee.

Plus, they say the largest wood stork rookery in Leon County is just across the street from the proposed development.
The project is still in early stages, though a preliminary design shows a neighborhood right behind the church that would see some trees knocked down.
Gary Zirin with the Neighbors for Capital Circle Northwest said the trees aren’t the only concern.
“There’s a lot of trees that are still on the property,” Zirin said. “Traffic impacts, I mean, adding 200 plus cars to the Capital Circle Northwest. I don’t know that there’s any plans by the Department of Transportation to widen Capital Circle anytime soon.”
A church spokesperson said they believe the preliminary plans are a good thing for the Northwest part of town.
“We have seen some of the initial planning and believe this development will be a win for Northwest Tallahassee. For details, the developer is the best place to reach out for those questions,” Northwoods Church said in a statement.
WCTV reached out to the developer, DR Horton, but has not yet received a response.
