Broken poles lead to a power outage for thousands in Jacksonville neighborhood

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Multiple broken poles from two separate car accidents caused thousands of Jacksonville residents to lose power on Sunday.

Jones-Onslow Electric Membership Corporation said around 2,600 members experienced an outage in the Piney Green area after three poles were broken.

Crews remained on scene throughout the morning and afternoon, and all power was restored shortly after 1 p.m., according to Jones-Onslow EMC.
