Florida gas prices are the highest they’ve been since July 2022.
On Sunday, the state average for a gallon of gas was $4.34, a 40-cent increase from the previous week when it was $3.94, according to AAA – The Auto Club Group.
“The ongoing Iranian conflict and uncertainty tied to the closure of the Straight of Hormuz is keeping upward pressure on fuel prices with no clear indication of letting up,” said spokesman Mark Jenkins.
Crude oil prices rose 13 percent and gasoline futures received a 46-cent gain, triggering the latest round of rising gas prices.
Additional moves in the futures market could indicate another hike.
Since the Iranian conflict, Florida’s average gas prices increased nearly $1.50 per gallon, beginning at $2.88 per gallon to its new peak at $4.34 per gallon.
The price increase adds about $22 more to fill the average-sized tank of gas.
The most expensive metro markets are West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($4.50), Naples ($4.41) and Gainesville ($4.40).
The least expensive metro markets are Pensacola ($3.96), Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($3.99) and Panama City ($4.00).
