Fire at Crowder Rods put out within minutes; no injuries reported in Martin County

JENSEN BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Martin County Fire Rescue crews quickly extinguished a fire Monday evening that broke out inside Crowder Rods.

According to Martin County Fire Rescue, units were first called to the business at 1275 N.E. Savannah Rd. after a fire alarm was activated. When firefighters arrived, they used a Knox Box to access the building and encountered heavy smoke inside.

Officials said the sprinkler system did not activate. Crews then stretched a hose line into the structure and were able to put out a small fire that had started on a table.

Preliminary information suggests the fire may have originated from a machine used in the process of making fishing rods, though the exact cause remains under investigation.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
