The College Football Playoff National Championship Game at the end of the 2028 season will take place in Tampa, Fla., it was announced Wednesday.

Raymond James Stadium, home of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the annual Reliaquest Bowl, will host the game on Jan. 22, 2029. It will be the second CFP title game in Tampa, which was also the site Clemson’s 35-31 victory over Alabama at the end of the 2016 sason.

“We are excited to bring the College Football Playoff National Championship back to Tampa Bay in 2029,” CFP executive director Rich Clark said. “The city has established itself as an exceptional host for world-class sporting events, and its vibrant downtown, beautiful waterfront, and proven commitment to excellence make it an ideal setting for college football’s greatest night.

“We look forward to partnering with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and local leaders to deliver a national championship experience worthy of college football’s biggest stage.”

This season’s championship game is set for Jan. 19 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., which previously hosted in 2021. Also previously announced were the sites for 2027 (Las Vegas) and 2028 (New Orleans).
