Haven, the celebrated restaurant that opened in South Tampa more than a decade ago, is closing. Now we know more about the eatery that will take its place.

Bern’s Steak House Group and executive chef Chad Johnson today unveiled the name of the new restaurant coming to the Haven space at 2208 W. Morrison Ave.: Peddler + Potter Oyster House. The seafood concept is set to debut in fall 2027.

With an open kitchen at its center, Peddler + Potter will feature “a seafood menu that changes daily, guided by what ingredients are at their best at that moment,” according to a news release from the group.

Diners also can expect a raw bar with Florida oysters as a focal point of the restaurant and a beverage program with an extensive wine list.

“As we looked at the long-term future of the property, it became clear this was the right moment to bring Peddler + Potter to life, a concept I’ve been developing for years,” Johnson said in the release. “It’s a bittersweet moment for many of us, as Haven has been home to so many incredible memories and played such an important role in shaping how we think about food and hospitality. We’re excited to share something new with Tampa while honoring everything that Haven has meant to our team and our guests.”

Taking over the former home of SideBern’s, Haven opened in March 2015. It has garnered praise through the years for its robust cheese and charcuterie program, popular happy hour and envelope-pushing small plates menu.

Haven is operating as normal through May 21, its final day of service. Many members of the restaurant’s team will remain with Bern’s Steak House Group, the release said.
