Missing swimmer from Largo dies | Crime, Crashes and Fires

A Largo man reported missing while swimming off Clearwater Beach died shortly after he was found.

Family members reported Joshua Westley, 34, missing around 3:30 p.m. Oct. 7, just south of Pier 60, authorities said.

The man was found 40-50 feet from shore and was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he died, city officials said.

Clearwater police and fire personnel, along with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, assisted in the search.
